TV Junkie: Colin Quinn's 'Long Story Short' Premieres Saturday; Watch 'The Killing' Pilot Online

HBO is bringing Colin Quinn's Broadway show, "Colin Quinn Long Story Short," to cable on Saturday at 10pm.

In addition to Dame Helen Mirren hosting "Saturday Night Live" (with the Foo Fighters performing), we will also see the premiere of "Colin Quinn Long Story Short" on HBO at 10pm. We talked about this for a bit in this week's Channel Zero podcast. "Long Story Short" is a lot of fun, and Quinn has many long stories that we've heard over the years, whether in bitching sessions on Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Fallon's shows, or on The Moth radio show, during which his supposedly failed career is a centerpiece - it's part of his schtick. But for a guy who has hosted as many TV shows as he has, to make it to Broadway, and then to have an HBO special of the Broadway show, directed by Jerry Seinfeld no less, it's difficult to take his claims of a failed career very seriously, but Quinn is endearing, so we watch.

We think the winningest of the new weekend premieres was AMC's "The Killing" which you can now watch online before Sunday's coming episode. Note that the program is now on at 10pm on AMC.

We kind of wish we were going to Saturday's College Television Awards which will be hosted by Mary Lynn Rajskub and will have Jane Lynch, Bill Paxton, Elijah Wood, Amber Tamblyn among the presenters - but we'll be covering the TV Land Awards for you. The College Television Awards is a nationwide competition from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation that recognizes excellence in undergraduate and graduate student work in the areas of video, digital and film production. Congrats to the winners.
